Salon Operations
Client Workstation Setup

Install the software, but skip the SQL Desktop installation. After the software is installed, start the Salon Operations software, and select Database Administration. Click Manager Key, and enter the master password to enable the buttons below it.

Once enabled, select Change DSN Settings.

This screen lets you change the database location for this work station.

If you have a tcp/ip network setup, wich is typically the case, select "Create DSN for Server" option and enter the IP address for the computer that has the database installed.

Also enter the login information for that machine. The default will be User ID ezway, and password is ezway.

Manually Creating DSN

Depending on which version of Windows you are running, you will want to go to the Control Panel. If your running Windows XP, you will see this option in your Start menu.

Next, goto Administrative Tools, and click Data Sources (ODBC)

Change to the second tab, System DSN. You should have an entry for EZWay. if you do not have one, you can create one, or use the step above to create one.

This screen lets you set the server, or the computer running the database. If you are using a TCP/IP network, this is typical, enter the IP address for the server machine. You can get the IP address on the server machine, by running a command shell, and typing "ipconfig" and hit the return key. You should see your ip address.

This screen defines how you will access the server and the login cridentials. By default it will use TCP/IP but you can change that using the Client Configuration tab. Also, enter the username and password for the database. This is typicallu username ezway, and password ezway. You can change these if you want more database security.

Note: the default installation will also create a username sa and password is blank. Blank as in nothing, not the word blank.

If you need to use the Client Configuration screen, above, you can define what network protocol to use, and if need be, change the port address.

The last sceen is used to define what database to use. By default, this should be EZWay.

If you don't see EZWay in the lisy, either the database has not been created, or the login you have used does not have access to the database.
