Legacy Conversion
This process is broken into two parts.
First, you must export the data from the older EZWay program, and copy the
exported files to your new machine. Once you have the files copied, the next
step is to import them.
Exporting the Data
This process must be done on the machine that has the older EZWay
version installed. You will find a program called ezw_conv.exe on the
Salon Operations CD. You will need to copy this file to this machine,
and run this program. To run this program, do the following step.
Put the Salon Operations CD in your CD ROM, and open the directory.
When you put the CD in, it will automatically start the installation
process. You do not need to run the installation process, just cancel
the install after it starts up.
| To open the CD without starting the install, right click on
My Computer, and select open. This will show you a list of drives you have
on your machine. Select the Compact Disk, or CD-ROM drive, and right click
the icon, then select Open. This will open the drive without starting the
installation.
After you open the CD, you will see several directories, one labeled
Conversion. Double click this directory to open it.
Inside this directory, you will see an icon called
ezw_conv. This is the conversion program that you will need to run on the
machine where the older EZWay is installed. If you are on this machine,
double click the icon to run the program. If you are not on the machine,
copy this program to that machine, and run it.
|

 |
| Once the program starts, you will see a couple of options to
select the version of the older EZWay program. Select the version you have,
then click Convert. The conversion process will export your data to the
directory you have specified. The default directory is located on drive C,
in a folder called EzwFiles. Note: The directory listed on the screen, is the
location of your EZWay files, not the export directory.
|
 |
| After the conversion process runs, you will need to copy the
exported files to the new machine running Salon Operations. If this is the
same machine, you can skip the step. To copy the files, open My Computer (right click
on the icon, and select Open). You will see a list of directories and
files on your machine. The directory that you will need to copy, is called
EzwFiles.

Import
Once you have the files copied over to your new machine, you will need to
import the data into the new version.
| This process is started from the Maintenance application.
When you first start Salon Operations, the introduction screen, the one with
the scissors, has an icon for Database Maintenance. Click this icon to start
the maintenance procedure. The next dialog you see, will have an Import
button on the left hand side. Click this button to launch the import
process. |

|
| The import process is pretty straight forward and has 4
steps: Step 1: Select the company you would like to import the data into.
By default, you should see you company listed in this pull down.
Step 2: If you have already export the data, you
do not have to run this step.
