Navigating the Tool Bar
|

After you have logged in, the main screen has a tool
bar at the top, that will provide short cuts to the
main applications of the software. Starting from
left to right, Settings, Clients, Employees Cashier,
Inventory, Receiving, Appointments, Daily Schedule,
Services and Logout.
Logout - This button will log out the current
user, and lock the software until you are ready to
log back in. This allows you to control access to
certain parts of the software based on user rights.
For example, a cashier can be setup with only access
to the register and daily schedule, without access
to sensitive information such as customer address
information, or employee salary information.
Note: It is a good idea to
always logout when you are leaving the computer for
extended periods of time to prevent unauthorized
access to your software. Also, you can setup a
computer to automatically login as a restricted user
and automatically start in the daily schedule. This
is very useful for machines used as workstations
just for viewing the daily schedule. See
Settings for more
details. |
| Getting Status from the Status Bar: |
 |
| The status bar at the bottom of the main screen,
displays useful information about the status of your
system. The status bar has 5 sections that displays information about the system.
A: Status of database connection, and name of current company. The Salon system
supports multiple companys, and this indicator shows the current company you
are connected to.
B: This indicator shows the currently selected cash drawer.
C: This is the current time on this work station.
D: Click this icon to use the Advanced Find option. |
|
Commonly used Icons
Each dialog or window in the software, makes use
of standard icons. Below is a list of icons you will commonly see on
dialogs asking form information:
|
Ok and Cancel

Typically you will see this set of icons on screens allowing you to add
or edit new information. At any time, you can click the Cancel button to
exit the action being taken. Clicking OK will generally save or commit
the action being taken.
Note: The system will alert you of
any action that will delete or perminently destroy data. The software
does not remove any data until you purge deleted records in the
Database Administration cleanup
routines. For example, when you close an appointment, or remove an item
from the register, this information is not deleted, but instead, is set
for deletion at a future time. You will not see the data, but it can be
restored in emergency. This is to protect you from accidental deletion.
Exit or Close

Most dialogs presenting information will have an Exit button. You will
typically close or exit the window using this button.
Customer, Employee and Inventory Navigation
These screens let you move through several records, searching for
information. At the top right, you will see VCR like buttons,

that will allow you to move from record to record.
In addition, on the left hand side, you will see option buttons,
 |
allowing you to edit the current record. Once a record is editing, you
will see the state of the buttons change. For example, when you move to
a new record, the Save button will not be active. Once you have edited
or changed a field, the Save button will become active, and you can save
your changes.
If you try to move to a new record after you have made changes, the
system will prompt you to save before leaving the current record.
|
You will see many fields with a # character to the
right. This means you can click the # image and use an input screen to help with
inputting special formats such as money or
time.
For example, when you are entering a time field,
, you can click the # symbol, and a dialog will
popup:

Allowing you to select a time value in 15 minute increments.
Please note, you can also type
in a time value, such as 6a, and it will automatically be translated to 6:00 AM,
and 6p would become 6:00 PM, to save you time.
Money fields will also popup a dialog to input a dollar amount, for
example:
